Chicago is a wonderful city full of culture, fun, and excitement. The North Halsted community is one of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ enclaves. We realize night clubs and bars might not be fun or ideal for those in recovery. Chicago has plenty more options for visitors.
Must-see Destinations
Architecture boat cruises - Generally these last 60-90 minutes. An architecture boat cruise will give you a great sense of the history of Chicago.
Sky decks - Willis Tower Sky Deck or 360 Chicago provide panoramic views of our skyline.
Riverwalk - Stroll along the river and enjoy the views. The Riverwalk extends from DuSable Lake Shore Drive to Lake Street on the south side of the river.
Museums - There is a museum for every interest. Most popular ones are downtown. Try to pick one rather than jamming several into one day.
LGTBQ+ Sights
Leather Archives and Museum - A community archives, museum, and library in Rogers Park celrating the queer and kink communities.
Big Chicks - Gay bar and restaurant that has been operating since 1986. The fun and unique atmosphere is a must-experience. Brunch is especially delicious. (Note: cash only)
Women and Children First - One of Chicago’s most well-known book stores catering to LGBTQ+ literature.
AIDS Garden Chicago - A 2.5 acre park celebrating those who live with this epidemic and remembering those we have lost.
Hollywood Beach - Chicago’s gay beach.
